I've just replaced the uni's so at least the banging and clunking has stopped. Now all I can hear is the whining (RrrrRrrrRrrrr) especially in first.

My Clubby is unregistered so I'm yet to take it out on the open road to see what it sounds like in 3rd and 4th.

It has been years since driving a mini and I'm wondering how much gearbox whining is normal?

The gearbox's are quite loud, compared to other cars. Whether yours is abnormally noisy, I couldn't tell ya! 8)
