You sure your battery is fully charged? ummm could the timing be WAY out that it doesn't even let the engine turn over?
Go to the boot and check the negative negative terminals there.. make sure the connection from the -ve to the car body is fine. I doubt it would be that though. Maybe the starter has just had it.. I'm not sure, I've never had any trouble with my starter motor.

If you push start the car and stop it, will it fire over by itself then?
My excel does the same thing occasionly, but never takes more than 5
clicks to fire over.

Sometimes the starter jams on the ring gear if its really worn (ring gears only wear in 4 spots as the engine always stops with one cylinder under compression)

Put the car in first gear & rock it forward, then try & start. If it works then, you know what the problem is.

I just put bits of my car back together after fixing the clutch and slave cylinders replacing a few things on the way. I had the same problem just one click each time i turned her over. After checking everything over and over i decided to put my old relay back on instead of the new one i had bought.
bang away she went with the first attempt. I have'nt got the slightest clue how the relay would affect starting the car but it worked after that.
Would anyone be able to explain this maybe to me?
Did you end up getting yours started josh?
