Well here is the deal, when i was getting Elmos motor built, EVERYTHING was
new EXCEPT the carburettor (I thought all my christmasas had come at once
cos i found a seemingly good HIFF6 in the lane near my house) HOWEVER it
turns out is is rat crap (although it worked perfectly on the dyno...... :? )

anyways i am gonna change carbies for the weekend cruise and i just want to
know what would be better for my engine with the following specs

1293cc, kent 266 MD cam, balanced, lightened, stocko head, cooper s hig comp pistons.
maniflow LCB's. (86bhp and 86 foot pound of torque)

so if the 1.5 would go on it would go on the minispares comp manifold if the twins were to go on they would be on the stock manifold i have on them now.... and all the needles are standard both the twins and the single.....

Cheers
Chris

Chris
Gina's (my wife) 1100s has a 1.5 single SU on as standard. It goes fine although it also only has the cast iron exhaust. It probably runs a bit of breath at the top but it was never meant to be a high performance car.

With big bore extractors you may just find that that brings down the level at which it begins to run out of breath. That is a lower rev range.

My 1310cc 1100s motor in the kermit mini has a HIF44 and extractors and i am just waiting to get a few more miles on before I give it a bit throtle to see how it goes better revs.

cheers mike,

yeah this is only going to be a means to an end until i get myself another HIFF44....
so i think the easiest and best solution is to just put the 1.5 on as Kev told me to do. simpler easier.

I got mine off ebay from the UK. The guy on the other end was very good. He sent me the heat shield, the nuts and studs - even the winged nuts that hold the air filter onto the J shaped trumpet.

For a little extra he also sent a brand new HIF thottle cable (which is a little different to the normal mini one)

The carby did need a kit through it as the choke o ring had hardened but Midel sold me a kits for about twenty dollars. The carby was landed for less than sixty dollars via air post.
