gday,has anyone ever replaced the steering rack bush and if so is it necessary to remove the rack from the car to do so

I have only heard of people replacing the whole rack when it starts to get sloppy...and yes, you need to remove the rack to replace it...

Yep, i did mine 12months ago, rack MUST come out! u can do a dodgey if you want to get rid of the car but if your gunna keep it do it properly! Rohan |

i replaced my top bush bought one $3.00 red plastic yeh pulled the whole thing out the bottom nuts a bastard to pop out |

Hey GAFMO. Thanks for those instuctions on how to change the steering rack. A picture is worth a thosand words. I finally changed the bush in it yesterday and the car is back on the road. |

Replace the rack??? Shit- they cost $$$! 
Nothing in there a couple of Belleville washers, 2 bearings and boots and a plastic bush won't fix. 
Fixing it is the easy part- after you get the bastard out...

it only cost me $26 dollars for the rack bush which i replaced. the hardest thing was removing and installing the rack./* |
