Something strange is going on.. Heres the story:

6months ago (someone can't remember who) was complaining on ausmini that their car was running bad. Turns out it was their spark plugs fouling up constantly. Bout a week after reading this post, the same thing happened to me - ended up having to rekit the carbys and get new needles.

Then not so long back someone else (I think it was Chong) posted about how they snapped their throttle cable. Week after reading this post, I snapped mine.

Someone posted about their mini runnig like poo about 2 weeks ago. Next time I went for a drive, mine had the exact same side effects they described. Turned out to be a blown head gasket for me - I think it ended up being the same problem for them.

AND NOW, pin4e just posted about his starter motor making a click when he tries starting the car, and not even turning over. EXACT same thing is happening to me right after reading his post.

This is crazy, from now on I am not reading any posts about peoples problems. They seem to become my problems aswell.

This is unbelievable... I read this topic, about TimB's mini only idling with the choke:

http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13372

and now.. GUESS WHAT!?!
mine's not idling without the choke... I have no idea what it is.. timing is fine, carby mixture is fine (plugs are a nice brown), idle speed hasn't changed.. I ended up having to drive home with the idle speed at about 3000rpm and the choke halfway out. I seriously have to stop reading posts.. maybe I should stop coming to ausmini...

LOL it's all cooincidence mate!

Smaller spark plug gap and hotter plugs fixed it for me. Now running 30 thou gap on BP5ES's and the fouling problem has all but dissapeared. It even runs well too (touch wood). In the end, my problem was actually the dissy cap... there was rust buildup in there and it kept missing at high revs on number 1, hence fouling? not sure, but since I fixed it fouling has been a thing of the past for me...

Also about fuel economy by running wider spark plug gaps... I dunno... I have mine at 30 thou and it's actually running better fuel economy? maybe it has something to do with not missing anymore
