Hey guys... I'm about to buy a couple of tyres, perhaps 4 if i can afford it, and was wondering if Yokohama A539's are worth the $135 price tag (Bob Jane prices)?

I currently have Falkens and they are not all that flash, in the wet they're downright dangerous. If i don't go for the A539 then i'd definitely want something better than the Falkens. What should i go for?

The size i'm looking for...165 60 R12

For the Melbournians reading this... where is a good place to buy tyres of this size. I know that pretty much anywhere can order them, but i'm looking for a place that will do a good job with fitting and balancing too.

Thanks... i'm going to buy whatever it is i decide on on thursday.

Remember, i'm in the market for a 12" Performance Superlite as well. If anyone has a hookup or source for those then please speak up.

one word - yes

can't think of any other car that you can get the next best tyre to a race tyre for less than $200 a corner.

better than a bob jane out of rounder

YES. Its that simple. I had Falkens on mine before and yes, they are absolutely shocking in the rain. Dry isn't that much better with some reasonable grunt.

Go the A539s. I've got a full set, and it completely transformed the car, you really can drive at some silly speeds through corners. I did 110km/h through turn one at Mallala in mine  They lasted the whole track day, and i would NEVER buy anything else for my car. Except some A048Rs... But they will be $200 each once landed.

Note: The A539s don't last as long, but you really won't care considering how much better they are.

mate if you can afford it then go for it, never had yokos but everyone loves them...

BUT if you wanna save some money then i highly reccomend bridgestones also, they
seem to hold on for ages and i am VERY impressed with them!! and they are resonably
priced as well...

A resounding HELL YES..though 134 is a bit steep..cheapest i could find them up here for was $112ea..bargain :)

I'm running 12" ADVAN A008-R's..i just got back from some rainy greasy roads and i loveeed it..helps that they are wet race tires 8)

Do be carefull that you don't buy just two and stick them on the front..the front will have so much grip that your rear end will come out nice and easily...stick on rear if anything, but then it is a waste..

Falkens are the worst tires i have ever driven in the wet...

yeah, if you can afford it definately go the yokos, and like josh said, don't be stingy - buy a full set

best decision i've made on my car so far.

yoko's = :D

mind you I can only compare them to the japanese spec dunlops i had on my car before, but they are miles ahead in grip

I have had Dunlops... Falkeins... & Yoko's

The Yoko's are easily the best... shop around & you will find better prices...

Even if you cant... $134 a tyre is still easily worth it... YOU WILL LOVE THEM

I just put a set of 165/60x12 Yokohama A539's on my LS, bought from local Bob Jane outlet for $125.00 each about 2 months ago.

Wish I could tell you just how good they are but have only driven about 300 Klms up and down the highway on them in the dry. Once I get the LS all sorted out, I will take it for a run around the local hillclimb and see how they handle...

Excluding price, is there anything regarded as the best road tyre for a mini?
Something that grips on all weather?

I have 12" rims, and have considered 13's.
I'll probably stay with the 12's though.
I was thinking Dunlop Formula Rs, anyone tried them?
