My temp guage is behaving weirdly it resets to zero when the car is off, but on ignition and idle it sits on max temp and then when i take off it goes beyond max and the needle sits right at the end of the viewing window. Is this just a wires around the wrong way prob? Don't want to hook it up in reverse in case the needle brakes or something without asking first.

My 850 has a little silver indicator stalk, the originals had an indicator light built into the stalk. I'll get the dash left and right dash indicators hooked up eventually, but for a quick RW that's fast approaching, what are my chances of picking up a second hand stalk that works?

And finally, where is my tappet cover breather and is it easily unblocked. Link say mines partially blocked. I have nfi where it is but if it's easy to get to I might just give it a go myself unblocking it,

cheers!

Is the fuel guage working properly :?: If not it is likely to be the voltage regulator

Otherwise check all your contacts are good but it might be a stuffed guage or temperature sender.

Down the back of the motor those little covers, one of the two presumably has a breather on it

Fuel guage is hooked up but apparently my sender unit is kaput (fuel guage reads empty though not full).

Would a voltage regulator fault make my oil/amps meter go all nuts too cause they both work fine.

I'll have to go have a look for the holes :).

To get to the tappet cover breather you'll probably have to take the inlet manifold off. Then you can just unbolt the tappet cover with the breather on it. It's easy to clean, just spray some degreaser down it.
