Hi peaple,im thinking of getting a sterio for the mini, and while bounceing over a particulare bad piece of road it made me wonder as to how sound systems handle mini driveing conditions,do you get a lot of jumping :P

Get a car stereo that uses mini disc or memory sitck no jumps or skips. The MG midget and mini K van both have sony mini disc systems 10/10 if you have a stereo that records on them 4-8 hours worth on one disc no need to ever change whilst driving.

Highly recommended

I have a stereo in my mini and it goes just fine except that the mini is a fairly noisy car to begin with. You wont be cruising in air conditioned comfort listening to the fine notes in Vivaldi.

Just remember to be careful where you take metal off from for the speakers. The parcel shelf is critical to the cars strength. Your better off to super cheap auto speaker boxes and mount them on the speaker shelf.

Also most stereo's are hard wirednegative to earth so your mini should also be negative to earth - such as with an alternator as against a generator. Depending on the sort and size of the system you want to install, the standard 35 amp hour alternator may struggle.

Lots of threads on here about alternate types of bigger output alternators that may also be made to fit

I have a Blaupunkt system and it's great, it's never skipped in the year or two i've had it installed, play's MP3's, you can put 150 or so songs on a single CD-R and off you go.

Get 6.5" splits, put the woofers under the rear seats and the tweaters up on the top dash rail. Sounds magic, is easy to do, and doesn't wreck anything on the car at all! That is how i've got my 1275 LS. I originally done it to see how it sounded, but havn't changed a thing!

no a cd stereo system won't skip that much.
do what poeee said, don't cut the parcel shelf or ruin good original door cards :)

ive got two 6 by 9s in boxes and have placed them just under the rear seat.

Because the speakers are low to the floor and in a tight area, there is plenty of bass. The mids and highs are fine.

mine are xplode three ways.

its good if u dont want to spend too much.

yeah 6x9's are ok there if the enclosure is sealed, i'd want some tweeters or
4" splits on the front stage to get clear tone though
