Post subject: | question about my SU |
Found a spare 1 1/2in SU in my shed, looks like its in good nick but in gonna rebuild it anyway. On the SU on my mini at the moment, there is 1 pipe on the float-chamber lid (where the fuel line goes). On the SU i found however, there seems to be 2 places to connect my fuel line on the float-chamber lid. So my question is - Do i change the float-chamber lid so i only have one pipe? Or do i just plug the other one up somehow? Or can i leave it as is? help appreciated ![]() |

The two pipe ones are essentially to feed a second carby or a fuel return line. Either way you dont want it - change it to a single pipe type. There are couple of different types of float valves on the under side of the float valve cover. If your going to reco the carby anyway be sure to fit another (new) float valve. As well as a new gasket |

Ummmm...... Before you do anything, Are the two pipes next to each other? (One will be at a 45? angle to the other) Or, Is one pipe below the other? If it is the first one, it is to feed fuel to the second carby. If it is the second one, it is the float bowl vent and it has a hose to the charcoal cannister (or somewhere else) |

Just turn the lid over and check underneath to make sure that I am right (or wrong) the lower pipe should just go straight under the lid and the top pipe should go to the needle valve. Don't worry about a cannister, just leave it alone and don't hook anything to it. |
