My car is running on 3 cylinders at idle. Cylinder 2 is not firing, it is getting spark , i have switched spark plugs and HT leads. What possible reasons could there be ? blown head gasket etc. This is a new head which has been on the engine only a few days, however i have had some trouble getting it set up correctly :) If people can give possible reasons and their likelhood that would be very helpfull :) At the moment, i am letting it sit, just in case it was flooded. |

Start at the rocker gear. Check the clearance. |

it is said that this is 'the works' cam, does that then mean .15?? well, ill measure the other ones and set it up the same.. iff.....needs be. Any more suggestions welcome |

I set my exhaust clearance slightly larger then the inlet. This is because the exhaust valves expand due to heat. |

Well, POE was spot on wth the tappets. Set them all to .015, but now they are fairly noisy. one of them was at .050 before. It appears as if cylinder 2 had both the exhaust and inlet open during the point of ignition. thanks for that, very much relieved ;) |

They shouldn't be too noisy... Theres an easy way of doing them.. it's a bit of a dodgy backward job. But take the rocker cover off, start the engine.. and listen to each tappet and adjust them. You get oil everywhere, but it's easy! hahaha.. Or if you have an old crappy rocker cover, get an angle grinder and cut and slot where all the adjusting screws are.. Stops oil going everywhere. |

what is the reason for them making noise ?? too much of a gap?? and if you do this while the engine is running, do you need to use the feeler? |
