hey guys,

bought myself a good car last night, spent a pretty penny on it aswell,

car: 1973 KE20 corolla (full sleeper) with 3tgteu (1.8 twin spark, twin cam 16, turbo) alfa 105 LSD, bigger brakes, bucket seat and harness, all the goodies!!!
beast halls arse aswell,
all engineered and road registered, ready for me to get into racing, wakefield park and motorkanas and hill climbs, WSID (all the stuff ive been dying to do!)

anyway, picked it up last night, done maybe 200ks since last night driving her round, .......................THEN...............................

driving at waitara, at the intersection where the BLUE GUM is, i was cut off by a driver of a mazda 121 turning right infront of me,
locked up and featherd the brakes but still slid smack bang into the left rear of his crap box!!!,
hit him at about 30-40ks,
the rolla now resides at stephan auto body at waitara, with bonnet, L/F gauard, grill, bar, intercooler, radiator damage.....oh AND THE FCUKING CHASSI IS TWISTED AND SHUNTED THE MOTOR OUT OF ALIGN!!!

full comp insurance through shannons for $6500, so should be repairable with that agreeded value!

i am pissed off, HAVENT HAD THE CAR FOR 24HRS!!

theres my story!

blake

I have to say that I am impressed with shannons as well.
Wife's 1100 S has been off the road and unregistered for some time. Now its repaired and we have decided to club plate it. A condition of club plating is insurance. We rang shannons at 8.00pm tuesday and now have apolicy for $5,000 agreed value for $125. Very helpful and non aggressive telephone experience.

Real sorry to hear about that Blake. I mean that's tragic buying a RICE burner like that :P

No seriously.....this exact thing happened to me 5 years ago. I owned my car for 5 hours and had a guy run into me and f##k it up. My insurance company were very hesitant in paying out the claim! So I symtathise with you mate. :(

I feel sorry for you and don't want to rain on your parade. Are you sure you will be not at fault? Technically if you ran into the back of them, it could be construed as your fault - regardless of what they really did to cause it. The law says you must leave sufficient room from the car in front. It makes no allowance for how much of an idiot they are - know what I mean?

Were the police called, and presumably you weren't charged or you would have mentioned it. Were they charged to your knowledge?

Kevin.

Just the way he said "cut off" I presumed the other car was travelling in the same direction, but I guess he would have to be opposite to hit left rear under those circumstances.

Anyway, hope it works out for him re insurance.

Even if it was in the same direction lanes come into consideration here as well -- one must allow for sufficient distance for cars in their lane only - there in no requirment (as that would be totaly unreasonable) to allow for a distance from cars in other lanes - the onus is on the driver changing lanes to allow for a safe distance to complete his maneuver. In general while manuevering (such as leaving the side of the road, reversing, changing lanes etc the responsibility is yours to do so safely.
