Ok now i know this is a thread which COULD go horribly wrong but it is something which i think can benefit the board specially the newer people

And i am talking about composing a list of people mechanics, painters and shop mini related that you feel is above average

I dont waant to see people complaining about, or putting down people or places just the good guys

It is a topic which is brought up often so lets make one thread to cover them all

AND by the way this is not meant to be a plug for a friend but just a helpful list AND who cares if it gives the GOOD people a plug everyonoe is quick enough to point out the dodgy ones

Most mini places are good - you just have to learn how to deal with the different personalities .... and of-course you'll get different opinions about the same people from members on this site.

FWIW these are the ones I've had dealings with that I would recommend.:

Syd
Mini Spares Center ... mainly because of my dealings with John Smidt. This man has more mini knowledge than ANYONE else I've spoken to about minis and has some of the BEST NOS around - and he's a legend of a bloke. NO he's not my dad .... was just very helpful and patient in his dealings with me.

Melb
Tovon Auto Repairs - Seaford. Toby Tyler's a great guy and has been very honest and helpfull to me.
Mini Macs - Werribee. Max and Marg are also very helpful and knowledgable. And it's great to have someone in the western suburbs selling mini bits and doing mini mechanical repairs.
A Grade Panels - good guys but I've never used them so I don't know how good they are. Know their mini stuff tho.
Minis Plus/Pistons Auto - Bayswater. LIndsay Siebler. Also a great guy and very helpful.
Martins Repair Centre These are the guy's who'll be painting my mini when it's ready. Dave Kirwin works there and as far as I know the only mini cred he has is that he's fully restored a mock mini cooper s and has some strong links to the VMCI and Henry Draper. Apart from that he's been in the panel business for some time.

That's my two bobs worth.

Cheers,
BC.

I would recommend Mick @ Melba Motors (ACT)
Good prices, and he'll teach you if you stick around a bit. =)

My mini mechanic is Tim Peachey from the Old School Garage. I have got bits and pieces from a few different mini places and most of them are great!
