Me again everyone. ![]() Does anyone know if my 998 clubman rod change (i think) gear box will fit on any 1275 engines?? what i have been looking at doing is creating a nice 1100 engine with a couple bores up perhaps... but my engine builder is begging me to get the 1275. thing is, it would kill my gearbox. IF it fits. I cant afford the rebuild. AND id have to go get a 1275. which is another $500 ontop.. if i go the street perfomance spec 1100 i have most of the parts. i dunno...what should i do??? cheers if anyone can help |

Personally I think your mad not to do the box with either option they share the same oil and one will undo they other. Do both. steve |

Yes, any engine including 1275 will fit on any rodchange gearbox. Ditto for the Mini-K & Mk2 S remote boxes. ![]() I agree with Steve- rebuild any gearbox that is going under a rebuilt motor, or you will be not only doing it again later, the swarf & crap in it can trash the new motor. |

I recently fitted a Mk2 Cooper S block onto an 1100S (1275) remote gearbox casing only to find that the crank would not turn 360 degrees. Upon removal it was found to be hitting the centre web and the area just under the idler gear bearing housing. A bit of relieving work with the grinder fixed it. I always thought all 1275 engines would fit all 1275 gearboxes (pre A+). |

Yes that is right, I have one here the same as a motor stand... With ALL the 4 synchro ones there's no problem, but earlier ones often take a little fettling. My crowning achievement in this area was once fitting an 1100S motor onto an early 850 box... it took about 2 tubes of Araldite and some wide masking tape to cover the 4 holes needed to let the rods swing... ![]() ![]() |
