Hi all Have just moved to the "country" in Adelaide, well only about 50kms out but anyhow we are not privileged enough to have mains water so all our house and garden water is on bore water which has a higher salt content than normal tap water. Anyone see any problems with washing cars or flushing/filling radiators up with it, don't want to corrode too much stuff with it!! It's not as bad as sea water or anything but you can taste the difference a bit Or am i just being a bit too pedantic

For the radiator I'd buy a large bottle of distilled water, and mix with anti-rust radiator coolant.. Maybe you could get a rain water tank to use for washing the car? |

I would not wash my mini with it  . Mum and dad have a bore at their house which they water the garden with. Occasionally it gets on one of their cars and leaves horrible white crusty scale on the paint, which is near impossible to wash off. As far as putting it in your radiator, i dont use any other water apart from distilled water and coolant.

Yup, I have done this very folly. It leaves a very fine coat of ceramic crap on the car. Stay away! It takes months to get it off the paintwork, so it would do very bad stuff to the inside of you radiator. |

Are you sure it isn't boar water? (they don't waste much of the pig in some places)

Bore water is good for only one thing... Watering those "special plants" down the backyard at night under lights

Bore water is the most unbelievably delicious liquid ever 
i dont drink anything else, havent had mix up juice, or carbonated juice probably more than once a month for the last 10 years And of cause the mini gets washed in it. maybe your bore water is bad

Hmmm yes bore water is good for the special plants down the back..... 
We have a couple of rain water tanks filled to the brim so will use them for washing the car but the preasure is really bad so will have to buy one of those pressure washers to get some good pressure to wash all those bugs off. Will think I'll just by the premixed collant for the rad, no point in killing a good engine for saving a few measly $$'s Cheers |

i've got a bore, too. but she's a sweet water bore... and since we're on rain water only, when the tank gets a bit low we fill it up a bit from the bore... we had a guy come out and test the salinity and it turned out to have basically the same salinity of spring water..
