Was driving down the freeway today for 20 mins (90k/h) and I started to burn up oil like nobodys business. Got to my gf's house and found that oil vapour was "pouring" out of my rocker cover...

.
Now I limped back home at 70km/h and it was fine (it's been fine driving around at 60/70 for weeks). Why is it burning oil in such excess when taken to 90k's??
The only other time it's done this was for about thirty minutes after I'd started the drive home on the freeway when I bought the car off mooman, after 30 mins it stopped doing it.
I put in oil enough to make it go to full on the dip stick a few days ago, and i've been told it's got the wrong dip stick in it and there's something broken off inside so they can't just change it over (?).
What I'm thinking is because of this, the oil stick is inaccurate and so the engine burns off the excess oil but only when pushed to 90k/s an hour and beyond? Does this make any sense?
I could just drive it on the freeway till it stops doing it and then mark that level ont he dip stick so I know that's the limit, but i'm thinking a better way is to do an oi/filter l changeover and put in new oil and then mark whatever comes up on the dip stick as full for future reference. Anyone know how much oil goes into a rover, my mini book doesn't cover them.. I'm guessing it's the same as a standard 998 though (4.5-5L from memory).
...thanks guys

. When I popped the bonnet at the gfs to check the oil I also noticed my radiator is leaking from the top end somewhere, tried filling it and it just kept seeping out

, tommorow I guess the moke one is going into it grr.
