Post subject:  normal oil filter to screw on oil filter

ok so i have the old oil filter off and the new one ready to go on...BUT

the bolts that come out of the block that the normal oil filter slides on to are obviously not needed for my new screw on oil filter as the new one had screw in bolts- how do i get these out??

i have tightened up the nut and tried turning it that way but no success

i have no idea as usual  can someone shed some light on this for me??

cheers

ok,,,get 2x nuts,,,do them both up a fair way & then tighten them both together on the stud, as in do one up while trying to undo the one under it, they will both lock together, Know what i mean???

then with your trusty spanner, start to undo the one underneath & the stud will undo, once it`s loose & easilly able to be undone by hand then simply unlock both nuts from eachother & spin them off the stud,,,do the same for the 2nd stud

:-)

easy-peasy

Note the gasket onto block is totally different, the old style one will not fit the spin-on housing.
Easy to make one from gasket material, if you don't have the proper one handy.

yeah i was sold the right gasket! infact i got the hole set up including the feeder pipe and filter for $60 which is fairly cheap i believe...now more money to spend on fixing other things

got them out easy- thanks for the directions Ready you were right :D

new oil filter is on and isnt leaking at all- so now my mini is on the road i believe

i recommend this mod to anyone it saves all the trouble and only takes about half an hour to do8)

If you want your bearings to last a heap longer - block off the oil filter blow-off relief valve in teh spin on filter heads... they relase at some ludicrously low poundage, feeding your crank bearings a steady stream of unfileterd oil... Did this in Mini Mag - and mat be on my site too (www.calverst.com). And for those wanting to loose oil leaks for ever and eliminate non-filtered oil issue, I do a billet machined job - on my site again. KC.

Keith, do you recommend silver soldering the ball in there, or is better to pull the whole valve seat out and replace it with a plug?

Rich you say kev? Rich??? well maybe rich with "LOVE" for this wonderfull little car & all the people surrounding/involved with them

but wealthy $$$ wise, i`m well short there, i`m scraping the arse out of my boardys just to make ends meet , it`s lucky (or good management) that i have a big crew of guys with me when i travel around Aust with my racing as they basically pay for the trips & i just drive the truck :-)

well ok i also cook & clean & manage a whole heap of wankers who don`t really give a crap about what stuff they`re breaking or leaving lying around on the ground & have no concideration for anyone elses gear,,,but at least they pay the fuel bill :-)

been on both sides of the fence

wish i had a few of "ME" as crew for me, then i`d only have myself to blame if things went pear shaped :-) but then i`d probly have some sort of "bi=polar" disorder, probly allready do,,,brought about by all that fuel sniffing. :-)
