Mate.... nothing compares.
Even a cooner mini (LS, nudge nudge) shits all over those two.

Go the Corolla, I had a mate who use to rally them, they are tough tinnys are will sweve the purpose. When your finished you can use the rockers and shaft to setup on your mini to give you a high ration rocker set.

Hope its a manual though the Auto was really bad.

Yeah the rockers will fit, but the shaft won't.. and if it did all the oil holes are wrong for a Mini head.
I bronze bush the Toyo rockers to 9/16", machine them to .625" wide and use a thick wall Mini shaft. And modified Mini rocker posts- the shaft hole moved back 4.2mm.
Fair bit of work, but worth it!

Rocker ratio with these is 1.46:1 rather than the 1.24 or so for stocko rockers.
= More valve lift, works well with 1275 and up.

to move the hole in the rocker post by 4.2 do you fill in the hole first then put in the new hole?
Sorry this is getting away fron the original topic but The Doc started it drifting off
Is this particular mod worthy of a place in the How to section?

Go the 'rolla - they were the only cars that my sisters owned that I never had to work on!

Go the KE55 (Corolla).

Poeee drove one of these (his mother bought it new) and reliability is ace! If you get one with no rust (rust killed these things, make Mini's look good), then you've got a winner.

Oh... they are RWD

OK, yeah this is drifting off topic a bit I guess..
There are 3 ways I know of:
1. Turn the rocker posts around, drill the rocker stud holes out to 10mm to clear the head studs.
I don't recommend this- there is little metal there to tighten the head nuts onto with the posts reversed.

OR-

2. Braze steel plugs into the rocker shaft holes, then redrill the holes accurately 4.2mm back (easy if you have a mill, like I do).
Works OK, I've done a couple of sets this way now. You cannot MIG weld these posts- they are sintered material and full of oil, but they do braze OK.

OR-

3. Get some 20x50mm flat steel bar, and mill up a new set of rocker posts.
Also works OK, did 5 sets like this but it's a heap more work.

I think this Toyota rocker mod is beyond most Mini owners, unless they have machining experience, a mill and a lathe. But if you want to try, do a search in the Mini Mods forum for `hi lift rockers' thread, or PM me.
