Firstly, a very big thankyou to 1310/71 and others for stopping when Lucas struck.
Very kind to drive me back up to a phone box to call help. There was zero mobile service. He then drove me back to wait the tow, kindly left me with a drink for the road side wait. Thanks again. You'll definitly not be forgotten.

Like any breakdown it never seems to be in an ideal spot. There were mosquitos enmass. I am very sorry to any who stopped with me who may now have Ross River syntoms

Thought I'd missed the Sydney Criuse, but by chance passed them on the OPH, so turned and caught up.
It all started after a small airborne off a wooden bridge. On landing the engine loss power and died, but why? With thanks to Gafmo a toolkit appeared and spark was checked. Look, check, look, check... Nope, it was looking like tow truck material. Quick close the bonnet....it's got aircon, too many wires was drawing attention

After everyone had gone (inbetween mosquitos) I kept lookin....then found it finally...fuel inertia switch. Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone here who knows their Rover EFI stuff can explain what normally trips this switch please? Is this "normal"?

Anyway thanks again to all (and despite the mozzies)

It is usually designed for a roll over or car accident.... once the thing trips i think one has to get a replacement or it has to be reset..... at least this is how it is with other modern day cars.

Verry interesting...cause relativily to prior jumps that was only little one. This one is a reset button on the port side of the firewall, presume that means it does not need to be replaced.
Definitly need to check this in a "engine no go" moment on Rovers. I felt a little dumb for not finding this before calling for help.

Rolling on the floor laughing,
This is a NOTE for all efi mini owners out there, there is cut off switch for EFI mini's, mines on the passenger side firewall at top above cross memebr, this switch is activated when the cars thinks its had an acciedent, a great feature if you know about it

We had this trouble in the 500 some years ago, we was burning along after the L 2 B in London, we was heading home early to make good time, Dana was driving and we hit a large pot hole launched the car and we stoped staright away, then we couldnt get started, it was like we had no fuel it was simliar to our old mini's when we ran out, couldnt find the problem so we called the AA, they came out after a short wait, a Paki got out and I thought great as if he will know (no rasit jokes plz), just thought a about the Mini and hoped for an older english chap, he walks over pops bonnet, and pressed reset then off we go, top bloke loved mini's and always wanted one...

This has since happened many times in the S works, after hitting a goo dsized bump travelling around, now we just pull over stop and away we go, has to be good bump though but dont panic at least its working, all in all has happend a few times,

Dont worry buddy and great to see loyal mini support well done to those who helped a Mini in need

Monaro

Well that is one fantastic security feature..
Ever tried deliberatly tripping it when leaving your Rover parked somewhere? Certainly works as a kill switch

Well, we drove back up out of the valley fo mobile signal......dead. "#@%$ you Telstra"!! and stopped at the phone box at Mangrove Mtn. Rather than hold up Kev I made one call...to Kerrie...to organise the tow. So she was almost there by the time I got movin.

Interestingly, when she call NRMA the message said something like "too busy, call back later", So got onto Adams Towing in Gosford. $160 back to Wyong. On return I flagged over towie up on Mangrove Mountain, (obviously came strait away and didn't stuff around). so he got $50 for the callout, so I learnt me lesson on how to fix that problem.

So I did get some ridicule, but at least I drove home.

How was the bbq?

I quite like the run out to Wisemans so when I gets the phone call, of course the BINI and I go running to his aid. Like Brad said, called the NRMA and got a recorded message "too busy call back later", thought "fugg it, cant be stuffed waiting on the side of the road all day in the heat and the mosquitoes for them to first send a patrol car and then a tow" - probably shouldn't have but rang a tow and started out there to meet him.

Get to my absolute favourite bit of Wisemans Ferry Road which is the nice windy hill heading down to Lower Mangrove and here I see a fuggin mini heading the other way. Have to turn around and follow it back up the hill to get signal to cancel the tow. Not happy Jan, missed one of my all time favourite hill climbs and blew 50 bux for wasting the towies time.

Thanks Kev for helping him out, much appreciated. :D

You must have gotten some air on that bridge
those mozzies they were real bad.

Just to add you weren't the only one.

After we left you I noticed my Fuel and Temp gauge wernt working
We got to Wismon Ferry and had a beer.. 8)
after that we left and Brad and Kev raced up the Hill climb just out side so Started also..good speed and nicely cornered on the first hairpin. Felt a thought that was a little odd but kept going  around the second bend a little wider this time then all of a subben I got smoke comming into the cabbin then nothing.... On a bend up a hill when people come racing up and down :!:

One two three 5 Mini's then parked behind me..Marcello down one end of the que waving people on and Chris up the top like traffic police ..Pmsl
I roled Morris back down the hill top the pub again and had another Beer with BettyI could not find the a fused wire so we waited for the NRMA to turn up.
Luck for me he had a bit of an idea and we just by passed the fuel pump to the rear lights  and got home safley

Cheer's Em for your company and the chat we had about others

Thought bout that. The switch sits on a metal bracket but has been broken off this. I'm guessing this should sit upright to prevent this, correct?

I keep laughin at
Quote:
"How do stop them from bighting?"
"Take your clothes off"

Just who said that??

LUCAS=Light Up Cars And Stop
Seems spare circuits are more necessary than spare tyres on Minis. Good to hear you beat it anyway.
