hey guys
i know i am constantly asking stupid questions and well this is another
as the title suggests i have found a roundnose morris mini cooper, unknown year, british racing green buut it will need a respray, it has the stock (i think) rims on it the ones which are solid like hubcap things ( hard to explain), rebuilt 1100 motor and a new gearbox with syncromesh on first, um interior needs a litile bit of attention  but its not too bad and there are some things i could do gradually but is not urgent eg the chrome bumper/grill is a lil dinged up. um its got a new muffler. and its right around the corner so il get some pics soon
um the price he reckons hell take 4grandish but no less than 3000 so.......i think i may have found my car :D
oh btw how much will it cost to buy a replacement boot badge ( the MORRIS MINI COOPER part its miissing the cooper  )
thanks a lot

pics will help, but $3K is not too bad, esp if registered.

what makes you think its a "cooper"?

if it has an 1100 engine and synchro on first, odds are its a mini K, 1969-71 vintage. they came standard with that engine and gearbox. check the ID plate on the firewall behind the master cylinders and get the body and engine number. they will help identify it. if all this leads to it being a K then the bit missing from the boot badge will be "deluxe" not "cooper"

yeah i think its a 998 cooper 1 cause the guy said he replaced the engine to the 1100 and secondly on the back its missing the cooper as the paint underneath is brighter sorta thing

and well u get the picture anyway
btw its got single su carb if that helps :D

still, better check the ID plate. also if it is a genuine 998 cooper, then there will be disc brakes on the front, if so, snap it up for $3k as there were not many genuine 998 coopers sold here, and they were only between 1962-64. does it have sliding windows or wind up?

ok if it has drums on the front and he changed a 998 engine for a 1098 one, then i'd bet on it being a 1965-68 deluxe.

still goes back to what i said first up. if its $3k and registered, it is still a good price for a deluxe

just don't believe that every round nose is a cooper or cooper s. there are plenty of people who will try and sell a deluxe or a K who genuinely believe that they are selling the genuine article, because they think they ar all "mini coopers". do a bit of a search on this forum and see what people are paying for the genuine cooper s these days.

here is a genuine 998 cooper from 2004 - note the car number and engine number quoted, you would see the same prefixes on the one you are looking at for a genuine cooper http://forums.ausmini.com/viewtopic.php?t=2446&highlight=genuine+cooper

good luck
