ok well after six of the most painfull hours of my life i am at the stage where i have a new water pump on new rad kinda in and fan belt on and tight

now the prob is this thr rad is a english one and therefore fits the cowling badly and the screws that join the rad to the shroud are a different size :roll: then the previous ones just a pain the whole deal

anyways i have the front side of the cowling connected with screws that fit and theback i cant get any in and they line up badly due to the different rad HOW am i going to get the back screws in and i still have to connect the bottom hose but thats ok

any thoughts please

ALL i can say after the day ive had is RESPECT TO MECHANICS who do this crap everyday never been so frustrated :evil:

search for the radiator cowling mod where you cut-away a lot of the bottom cowling...it might just work on the Brit rad...

I just put a Brit rad (3 core) in Ha-Ha. 2 core one has same fitting problem.
The screws in these rads are now 6mm x 10 long, instead of the little hex head self tappers.
I used a small round file to open out the holes in the cowl, and trial fitted them all on the bench before fitting to car. Make sure all 6 bolts screw in by hand, with both cowls on rad...:)

Also, I slotted the centre rear bolt hole (in the upper cowl), so i can fit the screw into the bottom cowl before it goes into car. Then fit the upper cowl and slide down over the bolt.

WARNING: If radiator comes without these 6mm bolts (as mine did) make sure the ones you buy are no longer than 10mm or they will punch holes in your shiny new rad core..

yeah i know i made the cowling holes bigger and bout the right size bolts well the threads right i dont think there too long the fronts went in ok without any noticeable breakege

i just cant get the farking rear bolts in i have tried just can get it to line up and yeah nmnmnm i guess im just looking for a magical answer that i know isnt available

Number 1 - Take out and refit different rad to mini :oops:

The radiator cowl is one of the reasons I'm experimenting with a Thermo fan set up.If it works out I won't need the thing.
Last time I had the cowl off I had the engine out as well.I learnt from previously to put it back on before you put the engine back in otherwise end up with your problem.

Yep, piss shroud off and thermo fan in the guard is the way to go - works a treat.
