Post subject:  argh what have I done (car wont turn off!)

I put my oil plans on the shelf till stuff was open and decided to just resort to putting on some soundproof foam i got from clark rubber the other day. It all went in no probs, but when i'd assembled the dash again and turnedf it over it turned over really fast and no start.

I pulled out everything thinking I might have knocked something on the inside and the only thing I could see was a female wire and a plug on this little metal thing. I searched for anywhere else this wire might go (and made sure everything else was tightly fitted and nothing else was loose), and as a last resort connected these two plugs up. I turned the key over to IGN and heard the fuel pump kick in, so I started it and it started fine.

Then I turned it off but the car kept running . The only way I could turn it off was to pull the plug again.

Here's a photo of the two plugs... red is the wire and green where I plugged it in:

Any ideas?? This was supposed to be a simple job of putting in some foam and i need the car for the weekend!!

I tried earthing it to the body, no luck. weirder still is now that other wire seems to have lost it's power and now I cant get it started at all :(.

Ive been out there for nearly 3 hrs in 35+ deg heat grr. At a loss of what to do now. All my other electrics work, fuses are ok but the stupid thing just keeps turning over really fast and there doesnt seem to be power from the fuel pump :(.
