Has anyone retrimmed there own door cards? If so can you post some pics as I am wanting to retrim mine and want to get some ideas.

Hey madarsemini, I used a product called Amerind MDF Board, which can be bought from Bunnings to make some new door cards. I used the 3mm size as it can bend quite easy to fit onto the doors.

The material I used was bought from Spotlight and we fitted it ourselves, using a spray on glue and a small staple gun..

does this MDF self-destruct if it gets wet? I was going to use some thin polycarbonate sheet... 8)

I have used the Amerind MDF Board on other things than on the Mini Doc and it seems to hold up very well. I'd say it would handle water a lot better that cardboard, masonite or 3 ply...

when mdf gets wet it swells a bit, but it still does the job well

mate there easy as to make and unlike a lot of things you can actually make them look professionally done with time and patience

get some board i think i just used ply and coated it in lacka and what not to seal then trace your old ones on to it cut it with jig saw or hand saw
mark out you screw holes etc

i then bought some spray glue from a craft store i think and some padding its like a sheet of pillow type stuff and glued that onto the board let dry then cut your material i used thick vinal and stretched as i put on
glue it to the cotton padding with the spray then tack nail the back to the board so it stays tight and doesnt sag

mine look great better then some pro ones ive seen and as i said easy to do but a little time consuming

what size ply did you end up using? was it 3ply? Also roughly how much did you have to buy?

I reused the vinyl off my original door trims and made myself some new mdf backing panels and just restuck them on the new ones. Straight as now, no more wobbly door trims and still have the original trim. All good.
Wouldnt be too hard to wrap other materials or even customize them though. good luck with it, show us your results

hey, Ive found the trick to waterprooofing mdf and many other materials is to paint it with bondcrete, awesom crap... like wrapping it in glad wrap :lol:

th other trik is to put some new plastic between the door and the new interior skin, this stops splashs etc, neva have a problem again!! 8)

hey im not a noob anymore! YAY! I'm going to try the mdf with a waterproof agent, then try some shmick custom door cards, could take a while due to work but when its finished........EL SWEETO?
