So far we have body numbers with a range of 1567 ie 103372 to 104939
what happened to the other shells, or are we kidding ourselves to think that there were only1000 made?

Don't forget about the LS inside the Birdwood Musuem. When we visited last year(2005)
we were told that this was the last LS produced in Australia.
Whether thats correct or not,you will have to go check it out :?:

The problem with the body prefix (the vin) is that it is the same as the 998 LS. that explains the wide variety of numbers.

One reason for not posting your full numbers on a forum is you don't know who is going to read it. You can do a lot of nasty things with a set of number stamps. 8)

Who is likely to do what with a set of number stamps and why would they bother, we are talking about the magnificent rust box 1275 LS here. It is not as though they are a particularly exceptional car. I know some folks have encouraged me to restore mine, but honestly I don't know if it is worth worrying about. I really do not see these as being tomorrows Coooer S. Am I just biased because I have one and it's a rust box.

Yeah I have made up my mind.
The enthusiasm for the 1275 LS as shown on ausmini, is I think pretty representative of their worth (and there ain't much of it really).
Could it be that there really are very few left, so there are not too many people owning one to get excited about them.
But Tell me who would bother to make a clubbie into an LS and what would they gain?
Do I really have the next big thing in minis getting ever rustier in my backyard.

With the amount of interest I've recieved for my car on EBay, I'd at least consider stopping the rust process. Mini's are becoming more and more collectable and popular, so a car that is a mini and special will have to increase in value. The more that rust away, the more rare they become.

it is your choice and lets hope it goes to a good home,,, could you please let me know
the details of where it goes so that i can keep the register up to date?? thanks hgeaps

Also Morris 1100 as we talked about it is real interesting to see where all the vin

to see where it takes us as they are all ovber the shop atm!

And i cant WAIT to one day see the birdwood car!! perhaps a adelaidian can get me

I have a mate who has a hiho silver one - it's very original and in really great condition, has a little plate on the dash saying it's the 18th or 19th last mini built (not sure exactly, but somewhere in the last 10-20)

PM sent with his phone number

I reckon you should 'officialise' what you are doing, and actually do a real 1275 LS register, just asking people for their cars details and saying you just want to collect them and compare the details seems a little dodgy, but having a 'register', even if it's just a spreadsheet, is much better - even to the point of asking Watto to put contact details in TME

Klubman, I am a Cooper S snob, I basically don't give a crap about any other mini - but I'd really like a 1275 LS, for the rarity and uniqueness of it - put yours up for sale if you don't think it's worth it, and saying that people on ausmini don't care about them isn't true either - I could say the same about my S, no-one really pays any interest to it...

Yes agree with your comments-I have also suggested thatTME be contacted, and a Aussie Register be kept.

Original Rego 6DK 389, Bought 2 1/4 years ago off 2nd (I think) owner. Ticked over to 100000 the other day (For the first time) i can tell this because the new set of tyres i got put on the other month replaced a set that was made in 1981 WITH THE ORIGINAL SPARE MADE IN 1978!!!! (It was SHOT and had NEVER been used on the car...) useless info.

Full bare metal respray march-august of 2004, Engine rebuild in the same time.
Engine rebuilt to 1293, Wades cam, Not much else (Yet)
