Yeah I have potentially 3 cars I can turn into bashers, but with Anton and the rest of the mob all getting bashers too, I want mine to be special... and to win.... haha.

OK... questions about building a basher... wanted for Motorkhana and Khanacross but nothing too competitive... 1. Would you use Hydro or should it be dry (longevity & ability to soak up bumps) 2. Whats the rules and regs about roll cages 3. How many seats are required. 4. Does it ultimately have to be registered or is "roadworthy" OK. |

Does it ultimately have to be registered or is "roadworthy" OK. 1. what have you got? use it. 2. if you wanted to put a roll cage in, do it properly and get a CAMS/FIA approved one. but it is not necessary for motorkhana or khanacross as they are not considered speed events by CAMS, and if a car is not logged by CAMS, it does not need a rollcage for speed events like hillclimb or supersprint. for your immediate needs for motorkhana basher, don't worry about it 3. one for you to drive from. my car only has one seat, a race seat donated by my brother but fitted properly with the right reinforcing plates etc. but you must have a functioning seatbelt that will pass scrutineering. for motorkhanas you can get away with just the lap belt, which is what i do with the full harness in mine, i just tie the shoulder straps up so they don't hit me in the head. for a khanacross you need at least a functional lap/sash belt. 4. it has to pass scrutineering, which means they look for the obvious - nothing loose that could break free and hit you. no major structural rust, wheels that won't fall off, brakes work. safe to say that if you could get a pink slip it will be ok, if not it won't be. remember its your safety, and CAMS actually lays all the responsibility on you as the entrant to ensure the car is safe. come on Marcello, with the number of cars you have, there must be one you could quickly turn into a basher. michael |

motorkhanas comes more to driving technique than anything else to win. and you can win by hundredths of a second. when you are like me and are 1.5 seconds slower than Aaron in putt putt, you know its not the car

**nods** Understand fully about the driver aspect.. still...doesnt hurt to have a powerful good looking car now does it..??
I will be coming to the driver training day to say g'day and look around (get ideas) but with time as it is at the moment, I think that I am a little too far away from having my basher on the road/track

My favourite all time khana car was a bog stock 75 Mini S, the only mod to it was to have the brake bonding guy put the wider front linings on a set of rear shoes, it was a better car than my GT and Coopers mainly because it was easier to control wheel spin not having as much power and was easier to drive, specially on dirt at the low speeds and low gears used in khana's. Most important thing with khanan cars is make sure the brakes work well and the handbrake locks the back wheeel without having to pull it off the floor Jon |

Mokes are great khana cars and there used to be some very rapid ones about at supersprints and the like down in Vic Jon |
