Post subject:  Convertible Mini in Vic...
There is a nice convertible Mini in Vic I have my eye on and I was wondering if its possible for this to be registered in NSW..??

Would I have to go through all the engineering crap to change it from Vic to NSW registration or is it a matter of a blue slipper just having a once over to give blue slip for registration.

Anyone know of this car that they can advise me whether its OK or not... recent spray jobs usually mean quick rust repairs in my experience...

M like any major mods you will need to get it passed by a nsw engineer.
it will be easier if they already have a legit vic one, so that you know that it will be pretty good. if not then you just dont know
then i reckon you need a bluey then rego

reading their ad, whats a 886 frame? and they didnt mention disc brakes with the 1275 upgrade and most convertibles need a roll bar or something to protect the driver in the case of rolling over

I think that the guy is not a Mini person so was referring to the shell being an old 850 shell.

I am certain that I have read somewhere that its got discs.

I have emailed him questions dont you worry...

Dylan... do you know the guy who owns it? Any history about the car? Does it look/go/sound alright..??

YUP thats the one... when was his wedding. Pretty quick spray job if it was done recently... Does 3DJ know anyone that knows anything about the car..??

Found out that it doesnt have discs, it "does require some work but not with the engine" what ever that means, the roof has just been redone and fixed up and it has all been custom made.

Its for sale through a dealer ... but they are like getting blood out of stone with the information...

sorry mate, dont know the guy, but i tyhink poeee has seen the car up close an personal, i just saw it whizz past.

I want that car like you wouldnt believe, but the more I look into it the more things just dont add up... and dont look like will be easy to register in NSW...

paperwork has it as a 1098 (which would be right considering just has drum brakes) but the guy is selling it as a 1275 conversion...
The previous owner had the workshop that did the conversion.
The engineers report is not approved format
The engineer is not RTA approved.

So if I get it, I will have to go from square one with it here, and its a HUGE gamble on a car that expensive... :(

if you read the long comments though, they are asking $10,000 (he says typo on the other price)

it is what you say it is "iwannamini" a gamble.

Dont know if it was the same one as at the wedding. The mobile phone numbers dont match up to the guy that owned it. He might have sold it though?
