Post subject: | Mini buying guide for the How To section |
Need some imput on writing a Mini buying guide to put in the How To section. Quote: The rust will be in the front floors on either side, boot floor under the spare wheel, in the battery box in the boot, in the sills. Other places like A panels, seams, roof gutters, etc. should be easy to spot.
Start the engine up... shouldn't blow much smoke, or any! You need to take it for a drive and feel what the gearbox is like. Shouldn't cruch going into 2nd gear, or going back into it. 3rd you don't have as much problem, but still check it out. Those are the things that will cost you lots of money to get fixed. If the car has a 1275, then by law, it must have disc brakes on the front. Now need you to change that bit, if ya think it needs changing, add to it, blah blah. Also need people to write a dummy's guide to different models of Mini's, how to pick them, and how to know that a car isn't the model it is advertised as (like a Cooper S or GT, etc). |

Can't find the list at present but surely somebody else can , what the id plate model numbers mean -yma2s1 - Aussie Morris 850 etc , basic engine prefixes , and years produced (I know , that one's BLOODY vague...) . Just the basics for people but could help newbies know what they've got or are looking at . |

that would be great, in the how to section, dummy's guid to buying a mini. i could use that a hell of alot. by the way my mini crunches going into second unless you really have the revs down or you double the clutch. but don't talk about that it needs another thread and i aint to fussed. i really wanna see this "how to" come together. ![]() |
