hi all...engine is ready tto be lifted out but am looking for advice on how best to get this done... I have tried calling what feels like every mobile mechanic in melbourne to see if i can get an engine crane brought over but to no avail... if nayone near hawthorn can help let me know.

Cheers, bryan

I don't know if you have any other work to do on the front subframe. But if you do, you could consider unbolting the front subframe and lift the car off. That's what I usually do then it's easy to get at everything and swap the engines and do suspension work etc. Then all you need is another person to help lift the front of the car.

whichever way you go, make sure you disconnect the earth strap! everyone forgets that one.

give either northern mini spares or link automotive a call, both mini people that will surely lend you a hand (although you may ahve to pick it up) NMS is in heidelberg and link is in mitcham

Also check out Kennards Hire, they hire Engine cranes, pretty big, but they do come apart to transport.

Kennards sounds good. I will check them out tomorrow; as for link and northern they will only do this in house due to insurance and liability issues.... but thanks

Thank you Sir. I wish I could say the same about yours, but they made me cry. That is a pretty nice clubby otherwise, I saw some pictures of it a few days before you posted the pics of the tradgedy. At least you drive your Mini. It seams to me that I am the only person where I live that drives their car hard. The others just take them out on nice days and baby them.
