Hey guys im bored at work so i thought id just chuck this into the mix.
My car at the moment has an A+ 1275 with a stage 1 kit installed. Im just wondering what would be the next step to upgrade its performance in regards to the engine ie twin SU's, machined head?? Keep in mind im on a tight budget!!

have a good day!!

Adding a mild cam aswell as some head work (port it and raise CR) would probably do wonders. Upgrading the carb at the same time (either single HS6 or Weber?) might be needed as a single HS4 might not be up to the job.

Anto.

defenetley do the head and instead of a cam as this is $$$$ to fit try to get a good set of roller rockers fited.say 1.5 or 1.7 items....most roller rockers act like a cam anyway or so ive been told.you should get better top end again so ive been told...

port but DONT polish.
polishing is a myth people!
i've been told by a head specialist that it makes the petrol stick to the sides of the valves but when it's rough it makes the petrol go straight through.

What do you call stage one kit?

Next step
Mild port job ie match the inlet ports to the manifold (big ports don't work unless you
want to pull 8000 rpm all day + you loose too much down low)
Reshape the combustion chambers as per Vizard's book
Fit 35.5mm inlet valves & Coopr S type valve springs (S&W are good)
Carb 1 3/4 is fine (thinking of $$$ here)

Caution: don't just try & fit higher ratio rockers, you could end up with valve
spring crush, & when valve springs break, very nasty & expensive

IMOP a 45mm weber is too big for a mild 1275
