Post subject:  mini hatchback/fastback??

hey all, i found a guy in my suburb, who has a yard full of minis, hes got like 5 cooper s few vans and normal minis.

but one thing stood out to me. hes got a mini fastback, one of those rare ones and hes just letting it rust :?

All his minis are getting pretty rusty and he knows what everything is worth!!

but not rh tanks!!!

he wont sell the cooper s s cos theyre for his kids, well the ones that still have the plates anyway!!

but hes got every little thing you would ever need

the story:

the husband died, then miraculously the house burnt down, so they rebuilt it and now the missus has a new hubby, whos now in charge of the old hubbys minis

The fabled "once in a life time find"?

On a similar note some years ago my brother moved into an old house he bought at Prospect. Looking over the back fence he saw a stock MK1 green/white Cooper S laid up at the back of the yard under a large pepper tree.

The ancient couple who owned the property said it had belonged to their son now living in the US. The car had been there for years, abandonned and forgotten about. They had no idea of its real value. It's gone now though!

Let me guess, Barossa area?

I found that place in my travels once. Mini heaven! I talked to the guy for about two hours.

I think the fastback is an Ecurie De Des but he reckons it's a Buckle.

He seems a nice enough guy to me. He was a mate of the first husband and they were both in the SA Mini Club for many years. So he told me anyway. :)
