Post subject:  Rough Revving

I've been a good boy to my little lame mini, i've been giving the engine a run every now and then while it's not going anywhere and i've noticed somethin strange with the way the car revs..

if i slowly apply pressure to the go faster pedal (rev faster in my case:() the revs will raise accordingly ie.. smoothly

however,

if i stick my foot to the floor, the engine will splutter for a few moments, then gather itself and rev like i expected it to

a couple of times it gave a little puff back out the mouth of the carb.

anyone got any ideas

also, i'm trying to figure out which cable (throttle/choke) goes to which er.. turny thing  for some reason i have the suspicion that they are hooked up the wrong way round, i've read a bunch about su's but ,typically, forgotten everything when i need the info. should the butterfly be connected to the throttle cable? and again, typically, i can't remember which one (on mine) connects where. .:)

and i don't have any pics...great.. so would the behaviour above be cosistent with what i suspected or is there something else...

phew... long post... i'm just waiting for the "That's what mini's do" response.. :)

thanks

michael

the choke is towards the rear of the carby and the throttle is towards the front closest to the head

"Puff from the carby" you been it's backfiring? if it's backfiring at the carby it's too rich... Or is that the other way around?? ermm...

anyway...

I have an acceleration "flutter" when my jet is set too rich... I lean it up one flat and it went away. Check your dashpot oil.

Pull out the sparks and see if it is running too rich.

makka obviously the whe you pull the choke cable it slighty opens the butterfly... that would be the right one.... :)
