Post subject:  Pulsar Dizzy coil resistance

Just waned to confirm - the correct coil for the pulsar dizzy should have a 1.5ohm resistance. Just went through a whole heap of them at the wreckers they are either 0.6 or 1.1ohm. So I gather the 1.1ohm one should be right yea?
Its of the modern epoxy filled variety btw, incase that matters.

1.5 ohm. less resistance may blow the module.
Stop stuffing around- just but a new Bosch GT40R, early type are best. :wink:

I've got several of those coils but I wanted to get the epoxy filled version because the car is running like a dog in the rain again (might be something to do with changing the grille and taking the UK type upper grille lip off - this exposes the gap between the bonnet and the body to the elements. and I remember that before I had elec. ignition, fitting the GT40T epoxy coil made a huge difference to running in the wet.

gt40r is a standard oil filled type isnt it?

Yes the GT40R (original) is oil filled.
There were some problems with the epoxy filled ones apparently, cracking and shorting out.

Tip: mount the coil well back on the RH inner guard and use a 500mm long H/T lead. :wink:
Dizzy's primary leads will reach there if not cut.
