Post subject:  Filling up - last few litres?

Does anybody else have problems filling up a mini fuel tank? I'm of the school that you stop filling after the 1st "click", however I've found that with the mini that this click is way short of filling the tank. Today I put another another 3 litres in after the click and still the fuel gauge stopped shy of the "Full" mark.
Next time I fill up I might try for another 5 litres after the first clikc, but I'm cautious of over filling. Any advice? :)

I usually fill quickly until the click. From then I look down into the filler while filling slowly until I can see the fuel at the bottom of the filler neck. :)

i am wondering the same thing, my mini only lets me fill up bout 12 litres at a time (i don't let the gauge go into the red zone) when i check it is only 3/4 full. the service station attendant (cause some of ours are not self service :) ) says it is caue the tank is so full and if you try filling up wit hthe nosele (end of bouser or what ever) further out of the tank it dosen't work, cause of the geometry it won't fill up, it just cuts off.

I find that filling it by eye is the way to go as well.

I find if I fill it too far, it just leaks out of the cap anyway...

I wish I could fill be the eye method, unfortunately I need to run one of the unleaded fuel flaps (which seem redundant now that you can only buy unleaded anyway). No problems with the cap seal, I suppose that's the trade off for having the flap.

my theory is that Mini fuek gauge sender units are cr@p from the factory and every one reads differently.

I stop at the first click, and this will show FULL on the gauge.

Through trial and error I know that after using only 4L it drops to half....where it stays for an eternity......before rapidly dropping to empty.

At empty on the gauge it takes 20L to fill to first click
