As far as i'm aware there isn't any inherent weakness in the pushrods...i would think they are tough little buggers and you are wasting your time looking down that path.. Head studs, i would look at ARP stuff... |

Mick when I measured it before I'm pretty sure it was -010/010 and didn't need a grind. Spiro will advise.. ![]() |

Thanks anyway Kev, i'm just looking forward to being able to use it again, its been 12+ months for that car now. ![]() michael |

Headstuds are headstuds, there are no known problems with original BMC/Leyland studs (apart from the crap head BOLTS that BMC Aust used on some 1098s). MiniSpares studs would be OK, I'm pretty sure KC said he uses them in his engine builds. ARP head studs are nice, but probably overkill for road cars. But 1275 rod bolts & nuts... don't trust them, unless you know their history. Chong has a 1275 motor which is an excellent example of what happens when its PO built a new motor with old bolts.. one let go and totalled it. All that was any good after was 3 rods and pistons, and the main bearing caps... ![]() |

All that seems to happen with pushrods it they wear a little `tit nipple' in the middle at bottom, where they sit in the cam follower. Just touch it gently on a grinder to flatten `tit' off. ![]() |
