With head off, wire brush in electric drill works for me.

Hellom how do you clean all the carbon etc from the cylinder head chambers most importantly, and then the cylinders themselves (without damaging) ?? Sorr,y could not find info with search :D |

If it is still on the car, get an atomiser bottle, fill full of water and do a 2-3 squirt mist right near the carby inlet while running at 2000rpm. The soot will be flash boiled off the internals and you are tickety boo(obviously dont douse it as water will not compress = BOOM!!). Aslo do not stand anything near the exhaust as it will be permanently black(like my rolla-door!!) If off - I use diesel and soak the parts for a couple of days then a wee bit of elbow grease and a scotch brite - bit of effort but works well(dispose of thoughtfully though). Then again - there is the "Oh, F*&k IT" attitude and send it to your friendly reconditioner and caustic dip it. Hooroo Rob Forsyth Miniot!! |

i used to work in a head shop recoing heads if the heads of pull the valves and use a bench grinder with a wire wheel to clean the valves makka |

Wire brush the valves once they are removed from the head. Most of the soot will be on the stem and back of the valve. Wire brush the chambers and the ports. Seat the valves useing a light grinding paste Dont touch the cylinders unless you are reringing it. Most of the performance gains come from flow through the cleaned ports and chamber filling so dont really need to do the pistons and top of the bore. |

If the car goes, put it in second gear and drive on the freeway screaming its little gut out at 7000 rpm and when you see that big puff of carbon explode out the back its all clean!
