why oh why are the gauge clusters in the clubies weird looking? they just look crooked and like some nut case just screwed them in as an afterthought. /ent rant ![]() i swear if i ever buy a mini one of the first things i'm doing is the dash. from what i've been told (looks at chris) the roundie cluster is easy to put in to the clubies. shouldn't be too much hassle swaping them around? cheers George |

hey hold your horses.. i said its not impossible!!! it involves the removal of top and bottom crash pad (if you want the total effect) then also getting a different speedo cable and then sorting the wirign out.... sounds simple i guess but changing speedo cables can be a bit tiresome.... but yeah it is not THJAT hard i guess,,,,,, |

Not too hard to bung a centre binnacle in, and we may do it with our van... ![]() Only tricky bit is the wiring. In UK you can get a conversion loom that plugs into the Clubby one, has all the little wires to go to the centre speedo & gauges. |

i agree with the standard leyland guage setup, hard to read day or night, crooked and makes a hell of a lot of squeaks and rattles, but at least its right in front of you, in Kilometres, has a tacho and temp guage, and flashes when your indicator is on. |

Umm...I have a roundie style in my clubman. But then again...the previous owner did it.....so no hard work for me ![]() And no, the crashpads do NOT need to be removed to have the centre binnacle, as mine were on there, i only took them off because I want to re-do the dash eventually.....although I now think I will run into rego issues for it. |

while we're on it, why didnt they give the mini a proper dash at all... only the rover's seem to have made a half arse attempt at having a full dashboard.. and by board i don't mean cardboard ![]() |

I love the stock Mini dash with the centre guages. That shelf is so handy to throw your wallet or camera up on, sandwich, ok maybe not a sandwich, but it would fit. Plus it leaves room in front of you for a tach. Doesn't anybody else appreciate the shelf? I want them in more cars. |

most cars have a centre console for that but it does look very handy to me. |

I'm with TurboOrangie on this - it's what makes it a mini, or at least an old english car. And likewise the Clubman dash. Shouldn't be to hard to improve on the implementation of it: straighten it up with a couple of wee braces to hold it, clean it up and so on. And I too love the shelf - holds a lot, but it is at its best when you only have the remote for the stereo. If it's out of your reach, go round enough left handers until you can reach it... |

I find it really difficult to read the things at night, especially the temperature / fuel guage. I put it down to the greyish / green background which makes the red needles difficult to read. Is it possible to get a replacement kit locally with different background colours? |
