i have a problem on meeni im running a new type of fuse box, the ones that you can buy from autobarn etc with 12 terminals on it.. its not working... its wired correctly afaik, but it just wont work, the power isnt getting to it obviously as it only works when you run it direct from the battery... is there a certain way these need to be connected ie: does the power cable from the solonoid need to go in a certain terminal? anyone else who has this sort of fuse box could u please tell me how you have wired it up so that i can copy it and make meeni work properly without running everything from the solonoid and having to disconect the damn battery every time i leave the car!! any help would be great cheers sean |

I take it that you had the '2 fuse' box before? If so, one of these had permanent power and the other one was ignition. So what you've essentially done was to spread them out. But you also need to spread the 1 wire that provides the perm power and the ignition. EDIT: Image below now... This is how I would imagine this would go. I'm not however 100% sure.

makka yer i have tried it with it on and it does nothing... kenny kix, are you saying that these boxes are or can be divided? and does it matter if i have say the radio next to the horn?? give me some tim ei will get a pic for yas then that might help better with making up a diagram... maybe.. sorry cos i dont really get that one

meeni you need to run power to the box one side will have things that are powerd by the ignition and things that have permanant power BUT you need to either make jumpers or solder a peace of heavy gauge wire across the terminals for each so get it ??? or not !!!!!! makka |

You can't replace the 2 fuse type original fuse block with a single system. As others have said there are 2 circuits. 1 Circuits supplied with power all the time. The supply for this comes directly from the battery terminal on the starter solenoid. 2 Circuits controlled by the Ignition Switch. The supply for these comes from the ignition switch and is only alive when the ignition switch is ON. If you have connected everything to the one incoming supply without dividing the circuits into permanent supply and ignition On supplies then you are in trouble. You can't turn circuits OFF that should be supplied via the ignition switch. You either need to divide the fuse box somehow or better still use 2 fuse boxes. 1 for circuits on all the time such as horn and interior light 2 for all other circuits controlled by the ignition switch. Note that lighting circuits are not fused on most Minis but there is a fuse hidden away behind the dash somewhere that I think supplies the tail lights on Clubman cars but I'm not 100% sure on this as the wiring diagram is unclear. yer i was just working it all out before, and figured i need another fuse box, thanks for your help guys i think im pretty sure what needs doing now |
