Hey guys, (and girl's sorry) i'm just looking up engine numbers and the like, and i see that according to :

http://www.minis.com.au/

Ive got a 1100's motor in my van. Now i know i have heard something about them being good things to have.
Is that because they are an 1100 bore in a 1275 block?
and therefore are more likely to give a few extra rebuilds?
Or is there some other reason?

number is : 12y/Ta/h8591

1275 without the tappet plates on the back. Came out in the morris 1100.
Others will fill you in more on this.

The whole 1100 thing is a misnomer
The 1100S actually had a 1275 instead of the 1098

It is a standard 1275 motor, which is a good thing :)

Early ones had a small journal, crossdrilled crank with Cooper S rods, never seen one factory fitted with an S EN40B crank though.

Ok thanks all.
I guess there are some misconseptions floating around re 1100's motors.
But i think the conclusion is..... On a motor that has already been recond and transplanted into another mini, then left is a shed for 7 years till the rings rust to the barrel's. There aint nothing special about it :)
Gee i hope there is still room for a rebore.

mad-mk1.
I bought it about 8 months ago.. So it may be the one you saw. Was in on consighnment at Moris mania then mini sport thats all i know. I got it from the latter.

Plenty of scope for rebores on these- can get pistons in +.020", 040, 060, 094 (73.0mm) and .115 (73.5mm).
Used to be able to get 74mm too but they've gone , like the dodo.
