Hey everyone Another problem another day! ![]() My car sounds like its running out of fuel when you start it, it doesnt idle without using the accelerator, but it will only run a little bit at a time before dying. Strange bit about it is I took the hose from the filter (ouch by the way, fuel in eye! ![]() So there was enough pressure to do that. And then keep flowing out of the filter. Where is my problem? |

i had a problem a wile ago where the car wouldnt idle and stuggled at low revs and the problem was there was some dirt in the pipe from the float to the needle. found that out after changing the fuel pum fuel lines and filter |

Will it run with the choke on ? If so , check for any airleaks around the carb or hoses off from the rocker cover breather to the carb (not the air cleaner) . |

the choke has to be on and the accelerator down about half way for it to run really slugish |

Sounds like you just need to warm it up! when cold most carb cars will run very low revs. It's a combination of old tired engine, points dissy and a few other issues. When it is hot, does it idle ok? if so then that's robably all it is! When starting, i run it for about 1-2 mins on part choke, when it's off cold it's fine after that. |

My mini ran like that when I first got it, I replaced the carby (1&1/4 SU) because the throttle linkage was worn and sucked air. I found placing the finger over the end where the linkage passes through the side of the carby it would idle properly. Worth checking. |

I would start by checking the iginition, make sure that is all ok. Then go and clean out the carby. Try not to change where the jet is or take the needle out, idle, and anything like that if the car was running fine before. |

just a thought, and i know i'm probably wrong, but are you running on all 4 cylinders??? check it out. or maybe its a timing issue, how long since you've done your plus and points? i know mine are overdue!!! |

yup you win poeee although its still idling roughly - might be the carby (looks really rough and the hoses look like there about to break) |
