My 850 door handle on the passenger side is a pita to open and my gf always has trouble closing it (loose strikeplate I think). Apart from adjusting the strikeplate, is it just a matter of pulling the actual handle mechanism and wd40'ing it to loosen it up or can kits be bought to refurbish it?

The drivers side opens ok, but the strike plate screws seems to come loose and make the plate shift when you try to shut it every few weeks or so.

tell your gf to toughen up and SLAM it. let her imagine your head is stuck between the door and the pillar. that should do it.

never had a problem with mine once the striker plate was adjusted properly. and you do have to be firm when closing. new door rubbers do make it firmer too, just make sure your door rubbers are th correct profile for an 850 as they are slightly different to the later model windy door rubbers (2 piece).

Make sure your hinges are adjusted so it swings easily also maybe check the pins are not worn too much

Is the door bent maybe? is the gap around the door the same all the way round?
