depends on the look you want but I got a leather one that somewhat matches the colour of the car. Small enough without going too small.

I bought one off Ebay UK fairly cheaply that came off a rover mini. It had been recovered in a soft leatherand the colour matched my car. It looks good and feels good - think it was about $50 fully landed by air.

Go for a classic wheel. I love my Moto Lita wheel, it's awesome!

I like it too! Doc has one exactly the same. They are the exact same items as the John Cooper Moto Lita wheel that was standard issue on some of the earlier works cars. The leather kicks ass and makes the car drive much more accurately (bigger wheel diameter) and it's less difficult for parking.

I used to have a small diameter wheel and I hated it! it was hard to drive and hard to park as it was so damn small.

If you look hard online you can buy these wheels for about ~$100 with a hub as they came on lots of other types of classic cars (worth around $300-$400 new). Least that's what I got mine for, notice the centre horn push logo?

Definatley check out Ebay and i think i saw some on minispares, so you could order one from there too. I got mine from Autobarn, just an autotechnica, but it does the job. If you want to get serious, then you gotta be willing to pay the big bucks. (Well thats what the woman on the corner tells me anyway!)
