Hi, I think my problem is worn bushes in the alternator - what do you think. Last night, started the Mini up with no probs and put the headlights on.....the engine died. Started her up again and revved up a little, put the headlights on again - no probs this time, but it played up a bit when I was showing off my new driving lights to my mate. Anyway, got home this morning and just to see what would happen, I turned on the headlights and the revs died down a little. Alternator bushes???? What do you think???? Hooroo |

Its a bit more than worn bushes, the alternator is not big enough for all your lights, its normal for the revs to drop a little when you turn on the headlights, what idle speed have you set, if its to low to start with may be part of the problem and a standard mini alternator is on the limit with ordinary lights and electrics of the car, time for an upgrade Jon |

Cheers Jon, I've got the "Prince of Darkness" as my alternator and it's not been serviced or had anything done since I got the car nearly 3 years ago. Yer - seeing as I have an air horn and 100 watt Driving lights which I never get a chance to use - it's time to upgrade to something with a bit of umph!!!! Hooroo |
