Did the front brakes today - new shoes, bled and adjusted - however, think I adjusted them too far - drums were v hot, but when I adjust them back I have no brakes. What is a good way to adjust them well, it seems a fine line between good brakes and none when adjusting - any tips ? please help.

yeah i think its just a feel thing when i adjust its allways a little tight i quess but it doesnt take long to wear to where is optimal
i cant see how its possible with worn adjusters and 30 odd year parts to get it perfect so better to have a good pedal and a little rub then no pedal my thoughts anyways

ye I agree but what about the heat build up as they wear in, i had a good pedal but hot wheels ?

never really given it much thought i think try and avoid hard braking for a while and just light pedal and easy braking to they bed in
unless on a track i dont think heat build up will be a problem

yeah i mean as long as pulling up straight and not binding a great amount then yeah all should be good as said id rather a good pedal and a straight stopping car

youll get good at adjusting if you drive a bit trust me
i adjust them prob every two to three weeks and its on my work car lots of miles lots of wear ahhh how i wish i had some discs

how much does a diy disc conversion cost ?

how longs a peice of string type question

depends on wheel size
if you have 10 inch wheels - you will have to go for 7.5 Copper S Disks expensive best way to go is to just by a new set which includes everything you need to bolt on from Mini Sport i think in Australia for around 1600 - 1700

OR if you have 12s or 13s then you can go some 8.4s like the ones used on 1275LS and Moke Calilfornians second hand prob get all you need for 1000ish should be right for that price to just chuck new pads and go

or the Metros which are 8.4 also i think and are off the Metro from england around 1000 as well second hand but good nick

OR Theres a few conversions a Honda Civic and a Camira conversion i think which are by far the cheapest but require blue plating etc prob get a set of them on for 500-800

oh yeah then you have your up market stuff you know vented drilled disks
four pot six pot calipers
