IMO I would do it in this order: 1. Bodywork and respray 2. Discbrakes 3. Engine 4. Rims |

Dave, you have to finish the body first mate!! It makes what ever else you decided to do so much easier. It sux to walk into your garage and see a multi coloured car, but if it was say....nice shiny red  , it would be easier to get into the rest!
I am spraying mine in Hi Fill Primer tomorrow!! WOOHOO!! |

looks like i'm the odd one out here.... Doing mine 1 wheels 2 brakes 3 engine 4 bodywork Dont want to have the body all finished, just to find out that the motor needs to be removed AGAIN, potentially scratching the car..... |

OK, so as I'm doing a bare rolling shell respray on the 850- should I paint it all then fit the motor, or paint the engine bay-fit motor- paint the rest?? I'm NOT pulling the front subframe out again..

okay Dr. I had the same pain as you, whether to do the bay before installing the engine. I dont wanna do it again. I spent 3 months of weekends in deseaming and hiding every possible wiring loom in my engine bay. Painted it, and then installed the engine. As long as yer bloody careful, I believe its the way to go. it's gonna be impossible to paint the bay properly with the engine installed. I placed blankets over the engine bay when we were dropping the donk in, and took it real careful. The only scratch I put in the paint was when the ratchet slipped off the engine mount bolt. The only reason I dont ever wanna do it again, is that after hiding all my wiring looms I had a massive short and burnt out about three feet of wiring. Scared the crap outta me, I can tell ya

I guess some of us build primarily for SHOW, the others GO.. personally I love hosing ricers at the lights with my 10 year old crappy paint- it pisses them right off..
Yeah I'm gonna paint it- after the 850's back on the road. That's a sleeper too- 1293A+, S box & disc brakes, Morris 850 badge- the twin tanks do give the game away, though..

well to klet you know.....im lending towards this order: 1. Engine 2. Bodywork 3. Brakes(need to stop) 4. Wheels the reasoning behind this for me is simple. In my budget, the engine will be the most expensive item with the rebuild on the cards. Parts come cheap to me, but its the machining work whcih will hurt the pocket. Id prob do bodywork afterwrads......while the engines out the bay can be worked on resprayed etc. Do it all in one hit, then chuck the engine back in. Plus stripping the car etc cna be done whilst rebuilding the engine with smaller costs....sandpaper etc Then discs to stop it and then find wheels to fit the disks:) |

you need the brakes b4 the motor good to have a quick car but it's better to be able to stop it makka |
