Post subject:  New wiper problem
my chrome acesseries arrived yesterday but there seem to be a problem with the wipers

upon fitting the new ones one - i found that they wouldnt turn, both arms will vibrate a little and POP out of the fitting itself!

suggestions?.................... :cry: :cry:

You have probably glued down the wiper blades to the windscreen. :lol:

Try taking them off and seeing what happens when they arent on it.

alright the rotating nob thingy works fine!

i fitted to old ones back on and they were good!

but not the new ones - any1?....or should i wait till the minishow to get help from the "crew"

i kind notice that the NEW wipers hasnt realli got the 'teeth' (groove) that the old ones had!! which is why it isnt bittin (catching hold of the wiper)

oh no! is there any way to rectify this? i was thinking of mayb putting like a gum typo material so it will help stick the wiper to the rotary thingy?

i got them from UK....bought them off an ebay mini spares seller

do the plumbers tape thingy work?...are these the white sticky tape that are often used to prevent leaks n normally fitted along the threads thingy?

Yes and No - the white tape is teflon and is not sticky - you stretch it a little as you wind it on and it clings to the metal

Just had a thought for what it's worth. I have some "Thread and nut " repair stuff I picked up at Repco or somewhere. It's basically epoxy with fillers to give it strength. You oil the "good" half - mix up the goo and smear it over the "bad" bit - screw together - or as in your case push together. Let it set then it can be unscrewed or pulled apart and you have a new thread or what ever.

Thats why you oil one half of the part - it acts as a release agent - just like fibreglassing in a mould. The good half is the pattern for repairing the damaged side.

That stuff is just epoxy resin with filler. Any old fibreglass supplier can give you a PVA solution that you just spray onto the part, the solvent evaporates leaving a thin film of PVA, which is a great release agent. Cheap too

I doubt they ever changed the design for driving the wipers. Even late model cars, with a retaining nut, still have splines.

I'd email the seller, and query them on it, coz no splines is just BS.
