my mini collection just got slightly smaller  . I had a 998 Cooper (with 1/4 vent windy windows) as a project but it had to go due to my wedding coming up this year and other financial setbacks. I sold the car to my cousin today so depending on what he does with it i may be able to buy it back once the bank balance allows. Not fussed about it though, the car was really a long way off from being finished and i havent got the time anymore.
So now all i have is my clubbie (daily) and another clubbie which im strippin for spares coz the body isnt worth saving.

Bloody women mate!
Why is it you marry them, then they want you to sacrifice all your hobbies
and give up everything you love except them?

I think it's pre-programmed in their heads to try and change any bloke the become attached to, and when they succeed, they move on!!

OK, sorry ladies, that's a unfair and harsh generalisation,
but to the blokes out there - DON'T GIVE IN!!!
Especially if you want to hang on to that lady (and your Mini).
Me dad always said "treat 'em mean & keep 'em keen."

lol, nice rant Edge, im lucky i get to keep my daily and not have to ride a pushy to work (j/k) .

Seriously though, the decision was totally mine, probably a smart one, seeing as said wedding is costing in excess of $30k.

30K for a wedding? Jesus
My wedding is only costing not even 5K, and thats getting married on a train in the middle of the rainforest and the reception....
I would have kept the mini....my fiancee just brought himself a mini....
Cant believe how much people spend on one day...30K is a house deposit or a damn good holiday overseas

5k.... what did you eat? you certainly didn't get any grog. Would have hated to see the dress... didn't get any rings? Now what about photo's, and even a video?

20-30k is easy to blow on the wedding. the grog and the food at the reception of mine was 6k! add that to the rest of the bills and 20k is easily reached. Add your honeymoon and there's 30k.

Why do people spend that much, well most people want to do it once and make it memorable. I know mine was.

Cheers
Aaron

my first annerversary is coming up and we spent 12k on our wedding and we had everything at home.
it soon adds up.
easy way to keeping minis out of site is off lad them to your mates or rent a lock up down the road and store them in there.
I have them at the inlaws place, my mates place,in a lockup, at my workshop, next door to my workshop. outside my workshop, in the single garage at home and im about to pick up another one and dont know where the hell to put it.
It was a mint mk1 for a bargain so i couldnt turn it down, at all.
maybe i should look at clearing some out.
2 race cars.
1 show car
1.5 vans
1 clubman
1 mk1
2 customers cars.

Fiances parents paid for the catering for the reception, we paid for the beer, we get free wine from a well known winery (Monichinos) because fiances services their tractors and gets the wine for nothing on top of his wage.
The wedding dress I brought brand new off ebay and it fits perfectly and it cost $120.00, have pics if you want to see how beautiful it is.
The rings we got off fiances boss' son who who is a well known jeweller his website is: http://www.simonwestjewellery.com/online.html.
We are getting the fiances father to do the photos, as he is a good photographer and video we arent really worried about, we have photos to keep the memories alive.
For the honeymoon we are doing everything differently as we got a caravan for our wedding present off the inlaws so we are doing a road trip up to the Gold Coast and spending 2 weeks there.
So you dont need 20-30K to make the one day special, just a lot of help and people who want to help you make it special....

You guys have got waaaaay too much money.
We spent under 5k and it's bought us 19 years so far.
Imagine spending 30k and having to be the first to leave the party!

5K 19 years ago would be 20k in todays terms.

Beefa it ain't a competiton to have the cheapest wedding or the most expensive. The fact the you say you did it for less that 5k is great, but you know full well, most people wouldn't have the connection to do it that cheap. Oh and by the way.... i still don't believe you are only going to spend 5k

Cheers

Aaron

My parents got married in a registry office and cost $26 dollars or so, way back when... does that count?

Doctor father, midwife mother... you'd've thought they would throw a HUGE wedding... it seems not.
Married for over 20 years now.
