Hey there all!

Since getting my discs and wheels, I've had a lot more travel in my brake pedal, in that when braking hard it is too far down for me to comfortably blip the accelerator for downshifts. Is there an easy way to adjust this amount of travel?

Also, are there any nice pedals out there. My accelerator has nothing on it, and the break has a small rubber square. I would love a set of pedals which are nicely shaped for heel and toeing.

did you change the rear slave cylinders ???
if not this would be part of your problem
and the paddy hopkirk peddle is a nice replacement for heal toe'n
but it is accelerator only

Here in SA, its a legal requirement for pedals to have rubber surfaces, and not all brands are legal either.... but do you really care about legality??

The Paddy Hopkirk is a pretty sexy pedal... but not rubber faced

Cooper S brake pedal was thicker, and cranked higher- if you can find one.

Yeah the paddy hopkirk pedal is sweet for heel-toe action! I dunno about this all pedals have to have rubber thing - our old Mazda 121 has no rubber on the accelerator pedal, standard from the factory, AFAIK.

Most cars do not have a rubber on the accelerator pedal. I think all that is required is an anti-skid surface on the brake and clutch pedals. Something most rice-boy pedals don't have.

IMHO you don't want bigger pedals on a Mini. My size 9 feet can push two pedals at once already. I "heel and toe" using the ball of my foot on the brake and rocking the right side of my foot over onto the accelerator. It works well on a Mini. Perfect for double de-clutch downshifts.

BTW Mini K's have the same pedals as a Cooper S. S pedals were standardised across the range in 1969.

Autos have a bigger accelerator pedal. Why? Stuffed if I know, it's good for heel & toeing though!

He he that's how I do heel toe downshifts on my car. It's so easy on a Mini

I find wearing my work boots I have to turn my foot on an angle to hit the brake without also hitting the throttle - I always go for thin shoes for that reason!

Yep, thin shoes are the go.

How big army blokes drove Mokes with army issue boots on is beyond me! There is less footwell room in a Moke in the accelerator/brake pedal area than a Mini. They must have been pushing the pedals with their big toes!

i have to take my shoe off when driving the matic
the acc n brake have paddies on them, one real, one fake
i think its the slipperyness and less control with a matic that makes me feel more comfy with shoes off

i can drive the moke with anything. its a manual and my big boots do the job well. actually boots or solid shoes are better for the moke, i dunno why, its the stepping down on anything until you feel the car go thing

Ummm, well I wear size 13 steel caps to work, and only occasionally do I find I catch the go pedal, as I'm on the brakes. And without boots on, my big toe is BIGGER than the accelerator pedal

As to the pedal rubber query, I was hammered for it at a Vehicle inspection, because I had alloy pedals. They would only accept the original rubbera to be fitted, (on the premise that the alloy pedals become slippery). Ever had wet feet on yer rubber pedal covers?????? What a load of crap, and if they're so illegal, why are they for sale?? Everything else that's illegal to use is illegal to sell.

i had a prang a year or so ago cos i caught the accelerator when i went for the brake

it was only a minor crash....but still!!
