Post subject:  Rover Ignition

On Sunday I lost a lot of smoke from inside some wires behind the dash. Turns out that these ignition wires didn't like a short in the ignition switch, so melted.
This all happened while driving out in the country of course, and yes I am becomming better known among towtruck drivers. Anyway, in fixing this up I note that this ignition line is not fused.
Would a 35Amp be a good idea to fit on the ignition line as protection? Can these ignition switch with key units be easily substituted for anything more robust on a mini?

No fused ignition is a good idea in my opinion...
fuse blows, your stranded...

You have a problem, a fuse wont fix it.

But isn't being stranded with a blown fuse better than being stranded with melted wires? or not?

Where does it stop then....
rover's have fuse problems at the best of times...
no need to add fuel to the fire.

you still have plenty of other brown wires to fry...
