I've just fitted a new roof lining to my mini, and now I need to cover those bits that cover the pillars between the side and rear windows, the old one's are rooted.. Has anyone made their own? If so what did you use for the backing, to get the curve in them, the old ones look like they are made of cardboard..

Cheers

Mat

To get the curve, dampen the card and lay it on something that has a similar curve, like a petrol can for example.

Lay a towell over it, to hold it to the can, and leave it for a week (preferably in the heat).

It will dry to the correct curve and stay that way

Has anyone tried using 3mm MDF to make curved panels in the same way?

Would it work?

anyone feel free to correct me, but surely 3mm wouldnt be that easy to shape? and it would want to pop out all the time... unless maybe you soaked it in boiling water, pressed it to shape then allowed it to dry...
but i think it would be too difficult/thick... :?

Using siclad_5's idea, I went to officeworks today and got an A3 display book with black plastic covers, big enough to make 2 of them thingamies out of, I haven't got around to doing a trial fitting yet, coz I got called in unexpectedly to work.. How rude... will let you know if it works out.. :D
