Are you after the BMC Leyland Heritage Group, it is made up of many ex BMC Leyland employees. Loads of mechanics and engineers and a wide range of cars from the entire range produced at the Zetland and Enfield plants. They have books and CDs posters and a fantastic annual lunch. The groups committee are a very infuential bunch of people. I will post details when I find them. steve |

Wonders why there are more Datsuns on the road? ![]() Seriously Minis aside Datsuns are better engineered, more reliable, easier to work on, easier to modify, have more interchangeble parts across models and are cheaper to run than Leylands. So what if they are made from recycled war artillery ![]() ![]() |

As far as I've been made aware the P76 was an animal in a straight line especially equip'd with a quickshift. I've heard the body was fairly crap. But as someone said "only admit if its a Mini leyland ...Im a proud own er of a 1275 LS near original planning to restore but currently my daily driver. |

Huh? Is that an old rumour or something? On another note, my old man used to be a captain on Nedloyd merchant ships. He remembers taking a shipload of minis lashed to the deck to Japan when Leyland was trying to bust into the Japanese auto market. They pulled in and the inspectors came on board and checked the minis out for compliance to Japanese standards. They "Failed" because the paint was too thin and the ship turned around and bought them all the way back to Oz. They loaded a new shipload of minis up and skull dragged them back to Japan where they once again failed for some other trivial fault. Apparently the Japanese weren't that keen on having another car maker bust into their home market. They never went back again after that. I wonder what happened to the minis? |
