only had mk1 and mk2 in Australia and i guess apart form some trim and wiper things was the introduction of the all synchro box in the mk2 and the 1100 engine instead of the 998 in mk2 (mini K instead of deluxe) and then the clubmans for a couple of years before Leyland renamed it the Leyland Mini |

Did we really have the mk2 here like the Pom's did ? Mk1 is like our early 850's with the sliding windows , external hinges and floor mounted started . Mk 2 I think in ENglish circles is their windup window's(without 1/4 vent's) while still having external door hinges (ok ,I guess our's was a localised version of the mk2) . Mk 3 had the internal hinges , wider and higher rear windscreen , higher side windows etc . Then there were several more mk's in subsequent years and don't know where they ended . |

The British cars were: mk1= our 850. mk2= bigger rear window, and other minor changes mk3= change from sliding windows to windups and internal hinges. (change happened in 68 I believe). Also had larger rear side windows, and exterior changes like the grille. mk4= the clubby mk5= cars built after the clubbies were dropped. Also has 8.4s standard. mk6= era for SPI engines mk7= door strengthening, airbag and MPI engines. |

Mk5's also had softer compound rubber cones , very comfy , especially if you had heaps of extra weight from soundproofing . The cones by themselves were still an improvemnet on the earlier ones . |

Only had external hinges in Australia. Britans clubbies were equivilent of mk 3s except for the front. |

Australia only had mk1 and mk2 and all this crap about england has no bearing on minis made in Australia, so unless your looking at imports forget about all the UK stuff  our mini's are unique to Australia

theres plenty of them at brickworx anyway if you want a roundy.. and yes internal hinges are HEAPS better, the stupidity of retaining external hinges is all part of the reason why leyland went under |
